About Masjid Al-Ansar
Masjid Al-Ansar is a historic mosque located in Tampa, Florida. It is one of the oldest mosques in the area and has played a significant role in the local Muslim community. Originally a church, the building was converted into a mosque when it was purchased by Muslims in 1968. This Sunni mosque is affiliated with Mosques Cares, which has a predominately African-American following. It serves its community by offering five daily prayers and special Jumu'ah prayers on Fridays. For visitors, Masjid Al-Ansar provides a separate prayer space for women and has facilities for ablution. The mosque is wheelchair accessible, ensuring everyone can participate in the services.
